Claudia Facial Charts

Creating the character in my head was complete, now what had to be done was conveying my character, her personality and story within the makeup and hair. For Claudia I've always had a requirement for what sort of model I could use to make the character believable; Someone who is attractive and seen as classically pretty but also someone who looks youthful and innocent The makeup for Claudia would always juxtapose the hair that is inspired by Claudia's love for old cinema. Heavy and bright is what I want the looks have been inspired by the era in which Claudia is forever trapped in... the eighties.

As I had already planned a hair style for Claudia I decided to draw the design on my face chart just to help me have more of a realistic picture in my head of a finished effect.

My first initial face chart I designed is pretty close to what I have envisioned in my head, heavy bronzer and blush high on the cheekbones. The eyeshadow is actually different shades of pinks and a black current shade the quality of picture is rather bad, I blame my dark room for this though. The lips are lined with spice and then filled in with a bit of spirit and also a white chromatographic pencil to highlight. I've included a beauty spot also because Claudia's entire look is based on what she sees on others, the beauty spot for example was huge in the 50's on Marilyn Monroe but also the 80's with Madonna and supermodels like Cindy Crawford showcasing the beauty spot with glamour.

I love this look but I felt after reflection that the lips weren't bold enough with the rest of the look.

THE HAIR. what on earth happened haha; this look was definitely the worst for me, I made the mistake of using a cream blush on the paper and it didnt blend properly to what I wanted. This makeup was slightly more dramatic with the red lip and winged eyeliner. After finishing I decided that I didnt think there was enough eyeshadow and the colour choice was wrong. The red lip though got me thinking and I decided that a red lip was what I wanted for Claudia, a shiny red lip.

With the face chart I decided to include the subtle hint of Claudia having deep purple eye bags underneath all her makeup. I want the audience to notice this as a hint to the characters story not looking as perfect as it does in Claudia's head. The act of 30 years imprisionment taking its toll on this immortal.

This look was just a bit of fun I was in a way testing my characters look, how far would Claudia go? she loves music and what she sees on the television screen in her apartment. I think Claudia is quite experimental with her makeup and what she wants to try, this look itself has a clear David Bowie Star Man in its inspiration. This look I wouldn't do for my final image because I want my Claudia makeup to be her everyday; the makeup she would have on True Blood. The red lip is slightly stained around her mouth which I like almost as if she's been eating in a rather enthusiastic starving manner or someones had to subdue her. Again there is a subtleness of eye bags underneath her makeup; the toll of being drugged so many times is starting to show.

This face chart is very similar to the first face chart I created, heavy bronzer and blusher that are dramatically on the cheekbones and temple. The eyeshadow are actually the same colours though the darker current shade is used then the first chart. yet again image quality is rubbish compared to what the face chart actually looks like. The main difference is the red lips stick in which I've decided to use with a small smudge on her face. I've also designed much like my Quentin designs the clear veins on her neck to show sickness and the drugs taking ahold of her, being subdued after a violent outburst her body's need for substance much like you actually see in drug users bodies the bruised damaged veins. I decided to include Quentin with these veins as he is Claudia's euphoria.

The eyeshadow itself in the picture is different being a mix of pinks and purples but also with some Urban Decay glitter shadows in pink and purple that are on the brow bone and also underneath the eye to make for a more girly look. This face chart will be my guideline for Claudia, once written and planned properly of course.
